When you mount a dart board on a wall the noise from the three darts will carry right through the walls into other rooms. Or, if you live in an apartment it will carry into adjacent units. This can really annoy your family or neighbors. This stand is really the perfect fix to solve that problem. There is no “thump, thump, thump” againse the wall. The stand is very solid and moves very little from the impact of the dart (I shoot 26 gram darts). The head bracket requires four screws (provided) to mount to the dartboard. To center the head bracket on the board,, start by drawing a line through the center hole on the back of the board. Any good board will have this hole. I installed to a Winmau Blade 5 (very nice board). The head bracket has four legs and each leg has three holes in a line. I used the outside hole – furthest from board center – on each leg. Measure the distance between two opposite outside holes on the head bracket. I got 142mm. You should measure yourself. Now divide that by 2 to get the distance from board center. So, for me, it is 71mm. Mark a point 71mm from center on the line you drew. This locates your first hole. I predrilled the screw hole with a 5/64″ drill to a depth of 1cm. This will make the installation of the screws easier. You can probably get by without pilot holes but that’s just me. Now, install the one screw in the first outside hole on the bracket. Once that screw is in rotate the bracket so that the opposite bracket hole is is now intersected by the line you drew on the board. Hold the bracket firm and, using a pencil, trace circles in the three remaining holes. Now, drill your pilot holes in these three holes (you can just pivot the head bracket aside if you want). Swing the bracket back into place and install the remaining three screws. Important!!!- not too tight. The backs of most dart boards are fiber board and you could easily strip that screw hole with too much tightening. Just get it snug. Ok, that’s the hard part. Now mount your board on the stand. Adjusting the height, board angle, etc. are pretty obvious. I did have to tighten the screws on the head bracket. Just need a #2 Phillips and a small adjustable wrench (or, pliers will do) to do those adjustments. Set center bull height for 5′ 8″. Mark your oche line at 7′ 9 1/4″ and you are ready to enjoy your new setup. Hope this will help you get a great setup. Cheers!

Nothing bad to say about the North Gear Portable Dart Board Tripod. This thig is a beast! Lightweight about 10lbs, Strong powder coated aluminum, that is very sturdy with the dart board on it. It does not wiggle when a dart hits the board either. It also spins so you can easily rotate your dart board without removing it from the stand. It breaks down easily and fits into the carry bag that comes with it for those of you who travel to dart tournaments and want to practice in your motel room. When set up the legs spread about a 3ft circle, but will fit in a hallway if needed.Once I got it set up, I marked the main post at the top of the legs so I can just slide it up to the proper height without measuring every time.I bought it because my wife doesn’t want me to hang a dart board on a wall. When I’m done, I just slide the dart board off the top(see pics), collapse the tripod and store in a closet or under a bed! Only takes minutes to break down and set back up.The pics show the whole story from when it’s set up, to how it arrived. I posted them in reverse.

I bought this to use while camping. I’ve used it several times. I am very pleased how sturdy this is. I bought a nice board to mount to it and it isn’t very light. Once set up, the pole holds the dartboard firm. It is so much fun to be able to throw darts wherever I camp and this tripod enables that flawlessly.

I put this together today and mounted my dartboard.Conceptually, it all works. It’s quite sturdy, a bit bigger/heavier than I anticipated, but that’s ok.My issue is with the various adjustments. On the legs and the main shaft, they thoughtfully used adjusting knobs, which work quite well.On the “head”, where the dartboard is attached, it’s not quite so pretty. There are two sets of adjustment screws for the tilt of the board. One set goes all the way through the head and has a phillips head screw on one end and a nut on the other. OK, no biggie. The second one appears not to go all the way through and just has nuts on both sides. It is a royal pain to adjust these. I ended up taking the entire assembly off and laying it down to do it.Then, there is a heavy bolt that goes through the head vertically, which you need to tighten down to stop the board from swinging side to side too much. Also very difficult to tighten.Lastly, after I installed the head on the board using 4 (included) screws, and got it all together, I realized that the dartboard is very easy to rotate. Too easy. I don’t see a way to tighten that, although I suspect there may be IF I take it ALL apart and remove the 4 screws holding the board onto the bracket connected to the head.Definitely a pain in the butt.Lastly, given that the center part of the head sits at a fixed position relative to the vertical shaft, and at least theoretically, that center part should be at the correct height for the bullseye of the board, why not put a hole and pin in the shaft to start out at that standard height? I ended up having the pin through the shaft for safety, but it is not helpful in determining the correct height or making that adjustment easy.I would have designed this to have some sort of adjustment mark or something as the starting point for a standard height dartboard. All that being said, based on about 20 minutes of use, it only wobbles very slightly and does not affect anything, although I find I have to be careful pulling the darts out so as not to change the angle of the board as it faces me (i.e. side to side).I definitely think they could have designed all the screws, bolts, connectors, etc. better. But, once it’s set up, it should be fine. It’s just getting it set up that takes some time. For the record, I’m an engineer and I enjoy technological challenges. I suspect others may not enjoy them so much and could be very frustrated with putting this together and adjusting it properly. It’s not as simple as it should be.

Very nice tripod, I took someone else’s idea and braced with a piece of wood and hooked my digital board to it. It’s very stable and easy to put up and down, the carrying bag is nice. Lightweight and easy to move around. Would recommend this product.

Very sturdy! Easy to set up.
Very sturdy, and makes throwing darts much quieter than a board mounted on the wall. Easy to set up.

    Paquet endommagé
Pour le produit, le tripied est de très bonne qualité toutefois le paquet à l’arrivée était endommagé avec les vis manquantes.

  8. Rich

    Weak base
Couldn’t add a Winmau light without a wooden backing and this was enough to sag the leg base where it would droop from appropriate height level by 4-6 inches.
